I always looked forward to art class with Mr. Hodge. He cultivated a warm and positive atmosphere for creativity and exposed us to many techniques that artists use to produce great works. I learned about color and contour, concepts that I use as a composer to create contrast and texture in my music. I remember thinking that we were learning and doing important things in Mr. Hodge's art class; that we were fortunate to experience his guidance and thereby to benefit from his deep understanding of expression and meaning in the arts.
